Homesick: a story

(1996-98) From the outskirts of Salt Lake City, Homesick was a “pop-punk” band that existed in the mid-late nineties. they’ve played with numerous out of town acts such as citizen fish, zoinks, groovie ghoulies, operation cliff claven, discount (which was homesick's last show in sept. 98’). four member line-up including ben hays (the assissanaters, the sorry entertainers dance band), brad anderson (the generics, the corleones, ritalin kid, the quitters), corey castillo (uh… maybrick’s diary zine, hemophiliac’s papercut zine), paul michael burke (the corleones, ritalin kid, the quitters, v vs vs, the downers, cathy and i, late night sleep t.v., tagalongs{pdx}, dirty graves{pdx}, molly bang{pdx}, copy scams{international} and scourge of ians{pdx}) wally mecham (the generics), and dave combs (the corleones, the downers, pleasure thieves, vile blue shades). they released one official e.p. called “just another day…” with 7 songs on cassette tape only. the recordings here have been transfered from the master tape. it was recorded at dave combs house on an 8 track tascam. also included here is the full-length album with 15 tracks which was never released entitled, “songs about girls mostly”. recorded in the summer of 98’ in a guy named josh’s living room/studio. all live, not tracked, as well. their arch rivals were a local metal funk group Punkadelic. rumor has it that band stole the prime spot on the roster during a show at a skatepark from homesick. homesick and their cronies then retaliated by throwing inner tubes (apparently it was an old water-slide park) at punkadelic during their set. then when homesick played the final “headlining” spot, of which was forced on them, the cops showed up and shut down the show fifteen seconds into the first song.
